Speaking a Foreign Language

in Language

It is generally believed that learning a foreign language is very hard. It is true in some way, but you can learn it well by your own good methods. And speaking plays a very important role in language learning. Then how to speak a language well?

First, try to listen to everything that you can find about one foreign language. If you want to open your mouth to speak, you need to listen as your top priority. The reason is very easy: you need to understand others. When you listen to the materials, you need to be careful or even alert in case that something important may pass without your notice.

Certainly listening can be divided into two types. One is intensive listening, the other extensive. For intensive listening, you should get a pen and a sheet of paper. While listening, you need to try to take down notes. If you want to do it, you need to be very cautious and patient, for you can make mistakes very easily. But for extensive listening, you need to find some materials that are little bit higher than your level so that you can find your weak points but never damage your confidence to go on. You need to keep this kind of listening for at least 30 minutes a day. Certainly, you can choose a software to help you, like Rosetta Stone Spanish if you want to learn this language.

Second, try to speak as much as you can. No matter you are a student, or a person having stepped into society, you can practise one language with foreigners you meet. You don't need to do it so much. What you should do is to find some people who are very near to you. Or you can find some good language learning software to learn as well. For instance, if you want to learn French and Italian, what you do is to get Rosetta Stone French, or Rosetta Stone Italian to begin your learning. Certainly you may use other kinds of materials as well.

Once you have a software to learn, your way will become easier. You can practise your language with this language learning software as frequently as possible. You need to follow its speed as well. And sometimes try to imitate, for if you have a good accent, you will be more easily understood by foreigners. But bear in mind: don't go to extremes about it.
In short, you need to practise much, for practice makes perfect!
